Day Ten and Eleven

Well got to drive the Going to the Sun Road today(Monday), it is named appropriately. It was a bit intimidating at times since there is nothing between you and deep valley below except an 18" stone wall. Marge never wanted to get out of the car. :)

There are waterfalls almost everywhere you look. Some of them are running across the road. There is still a lot of snow on the mountains, people were skiing at Logan's Pass. In several areas you can see the landscape damage due to snow avalanches over the winter. There was haze in the air today so the pictures of distant objects are not real clear. I put the camcorder on the dash of the car and recorded our descent of the "Going to the Sun" road.

Well we stayed at a campground. We had a good time. Yes I know it is a cabin but we are working our way up(or should I say down) to a tent. :)

Tuesday we were on the road again. Got all the way to Seattle, Washington. Saw some impressive "dust devils" along the highway in the fields. We had our first trouble locating lodging but finally found a nice place near SEATAC airport right near one the Boeing factorys. Our route to Olympic NP on Wednesday includes a ferry ride across Puget Sound but we will reroute because Steph is not crazy about putting the car on a boat.

Into the final timezone now. 3828 miles and still counting. Gas is expensive here! $2.49 for a gallon, guess they have not got the message in this area that prices have leveled off and have even fallen a bit. We will talk to you all in a day or so.
